What’s Next for VELA?
While I know many of you are still on summer mode, I am already finalizing my moves for fall! This Fall is all about creating new prints and collaborating with BABBU the painter once again! For those who don’t know the previous BABBU collection, check out the last collection here (still a few pieces left). I’m so excited for everyone to see what we’ve come up with this time in our collaboration. I’ll give you a hint: the theme is strong feline and mirrored prints!
In addition to the next Babbu collection, we are working on extending the vintage collection that you all loved. I’m designing new florals and classic micro patterns that takes you back in time to a nostalgic happy place. The goal here is for you to believe that you once saw a similar print in your grandmothers closet or in an old photograph!
THE NEW COLOR SCHEME
This Fall I am not shying away from colors. Everyone knows me for keeping it neutral and the Tan viscose is practically glued to my head. Well, that’s all about to change. I’m experimenting with high prism colors and neon elements for the solids collection. I want to make everyone’s hijab collection have bursts of colors.
So, we are extending the color family.

TWO sizes ONE fabric
Another important update to the upcoming solids collection is fabric. Everyone who has been a close follower of Vela knows that when it comes to fabric quality we NEVER compromise. At VELA, we know you love our fabrics and keep coming back for more. This season we are going to simplify the solids collection and offer the 75cm width and 100cm width as Modal. Yes that’s right, now we are going to offer both sizes in Modal.
The reason being is that we found over time the quality of modal is both softer and has a nicer shine appeal compared to viscose. So, we worked closely with our weavers in India to insure the standard 75cm size is not transparent, but still offers the same elegance in drape and comfort as the 100cm. After months of experimenting, we got the fabric down just perfectly for both sizes. The end result is a fabric that is durable, breathable, elegant and drapes to perfection. Trust me— you will love the fabric in either size!
I hope I got everyone excited! I know there is a few months before this release, but I have good news…. a huge restock is coming up in just one week! And, expect to see some new solid colors in those pop of colors I talked about. 😊
